Reviews
"In Choosing Your Battles, we receive humbly-delivered wisdom from Don on how to navigate our own personal battles and come out as successes.
Through the real life narratives of training and the mindset of a Navy Seal, intertwined with historical examples, this is really a book about negotiation, with positive tips and advice on deciding which battles to engage in and, as importantly, which battles to let go of and why.
Choosing Your Battles is a timely reminder of the importance of choosing and sticking with a course of action, remaining dynamic, perseverance, and patiently seeing things through to the end."
— Heath Podmore, Founder & Head Performance Coach, Elevarlife Performance Training
"I feel as though I have gained years of wisdom in a matter of hours. Don did an extraordinary job of describing the art of Choosing Your Battles. His insight has given me better perspective as to how I can go to battle more level-headed and better prepared when emotions try to get the best of me. Unlike any other book I've ever read, Choosing Your Battles is a book every person, both young and old, should read."
–Donna Hude, Law Enforcement Professional
"This was a lovely read. I enjoyed the principles put forth, the inspiration/guidance and also the examples shared. A lovely book and a good tool for any one looking to better themselves."
—Vijay Nirmal Kumar, Regional Head, HDFC Bank, India’s largest Private Bank
"In Choosing Your Battles, Don offers practical guidelines and helpful criteria for selecting which life battles to choose, how to establish your own rules of engagement so that you fight fair, and then how to stack the odds in your favor to win those battles. Highly recommend."
—Allen Wooten, Elite Obstacle Course Competitor and Triathlete
"Defining how you want to live your life and then focusing on how to do it, when faced with life’s continuing challenges is truly an exercise in Choosing Your Battles. Then, focusing on and thinking all the way through the plan and the execution, knowing that adapting along the way to the unexpected, requires the strength of character to persevere. Don Mann has provided vivid examples of how, and why, Choosing Your Battles will simplify and bring quality to your life. It is a potent read.
—Jim Hawes, author, Cold War Navy SEAL
"When I read this book, one word repeatedly popped into my mind, triage. Don Mann, a former Navy SEAL, was also a medical specialist in that elite organization. Throughout his new book, he returns again and again to the concept of picking your fights wisely and applying scarce personal (energy, sanity, etc.) and financial resources where they can do the most good. Focus is also a key trait discussed through the author’s own experiences and by using insightful vignettes showcasing examples of successful people in all walks of life, learning the lesson - choose your battles wisely. This is the second book I’ve read, and I was thrilled with the many ideas, inspiring thoughts, and practical advice I found inside. Choosing Your Battles is a must-read book!"
— Marty Strong, Navy SEAL Commander (ret)
“The great Don Mann does it again, with another inspirational and informative book that serves up equal helpings of grit and wisdom.”
—Ralph Pezzullo, New York Times bestselling author
